7 Things You Didn’t Know About Energy Healing

Learning energy healing can prepare you to work alongside conventional physicians as part of a holistic therapy program.

Pranic or energy healing is a holistic practice in which the healer directs the cosmic life force (or healing energy) into the patient to help balance, heal and clear blockages in the body.

This energetic form of healing is a traditional healing system that restores balance and energy flow through the body, mind and soul. This healing practice may involve physical contact with the body or non-physical work that uses bodily energy.

The professions around energetic healing require exceptional perception and compassion, as well as dedication to holistic healing practices and a deep understanding of how the energy fields of the body work.

Learning energy healing can prepare you to work alongside conventional physicians as part of a holistic therapy program or as part of an alternative or complementary medicine clinic.

Graduates of energy healing schools typically specialize in specific forms of healing, such as therapeutic touch, Reiki training, qigong or polar therapy. Many programs also include training in specific techniques, such as Reiki training or vibration therapy.

There are various schools that teach this type of healing, including Biofield Pranic Healing, 23 Spiritual Healing, 4 Contact Healing, Distance Healing, Pranic Healing, Healing Touch, 5 Reiki Healing , 6 and Qigong, etc.

Combining holistic therapies, such as Reiki energy healing, with traditional healing treatments can help you optimize your health* and wellness. This healing method  can be used as a complementary practice along with other therapies and treatments.

While many physicians in North America may not offer energy therapy as a solution to a health problem, alternative therapies are popular in the United States and Canada.

Many forms of alternative therapy, especially those based on energy work, are difficult to substantiate with scientific evidence. While early reviews of the scientific literature on energy therapy were equivocal and recommended further research, 7,4 recent reviews concluded that there is no evidence to support clinical efficacy.

Energy medicine often assumes that an imbalance in the body’s “energy field” leads to illness, and that by restoring the balance of the body’s energy field, health can be restored. The foundation of energy medicine is to remove blockages in your body’s energy field that can cause health problems.

Energy medicine aims to help energy flow and remove blockages in a manner like acupuncture or acupressure. For example, in Chinese medicine, it is believed that energy flows through the body’s meridian system, and that by harvesting this energy, diseases can be cured. Known as “chi” in traditional Chinese medicine and “prana” in Ayurveda.

It is believed that we can harness this energy to find balance and healing in our spiritual and physical bodies. Reiki energy healers typically use their hands to energize the body, improving the energy flow and balance to support recovery.

Reiki was created in the early 20th century and involves the practitioner placing the hands close to the body to stimulate the flow of energy and promote healing. In Reiki, practitioners transfer energy by placing it on or over the patient. Energy transfer occurs when the practitioner holds the practitioner’s palm slightly higher or higher than the body.

When a practitioner feels that the warmth or energy in practitioners’ palms has decreased, they remove their hands and can place them on another part of the patient’s body.

Each hand position is held until the practitioner feels that the energy has stopped flowing. Use may include placing the hands a few inches above the body to manipulate healing chi and remove negative energy.

Reiki patients can choose how to conduct the Reiki session: with their hands, with a light touch or no hands, or with their hands over the patient’s body. During the session, patients will either sit in a chair or lie comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed, while the Reiki practitioner gently places the patient’s hands, palms down, on or slightly above their body at specific energy points.

By placing a hand on the patient’s body over and over, the Reiki master directs the energy of their spiritual body and/or divinity to heal the patient. The practice of Reiki – a name derived from the Japanese words rei (spirit) and ki (life force) is generally used for self-healing through certain Reiki hand positions. During a chakra healing session, practitioners can use a combination of techniques, such as crystals and breathing, to realign the chakras and heal the mind and body.

For example, Reiki treatment, chakra healing, and aura cleansing are three exercises that can be done remotely, while acupuncture, which uses needles to stimulate the flow of energy in the body, cannot. Either way, the Reiki Practitioner works on a manifestation of energy and vibration to affect the body.

Most techniques are typically a non-tactile form of spiritual therapy, and even though no physical contact is made, many people still experience meditative states, restful sleep or work awareness during sessions. In addition to the aforementioned practices, Pranic healing is based on the understanding that the human force energy field is a powerful dynamic system with a unique relationship to physical, emotional and spiritual health.

All in all, universal energetic healing is both an enjoyable and powerful therapy that helps one connect with their inner source of vitality, allowing them to shift physical, emotional and mental dysfunction towards health and wellness.

If you have been diagnosed with a physical illness, mental illness, are experiencing physical discomfort, are struggling with mental or emotional difficulties, or are simply trying to align your mind, body, and spirit, you may benefit from these healing practices.

Energy healing is no substitute for professional medical advice from a licensed doctor or medical practitioner, so definitely you’ll want to use it as a compliment to these and always consult with a licensed medical professional first.

Energy medicine is a branch of alternative medicine that’s based on the belief that healers can direct healing energy into a patient and achieve positive results, working alongside conventional medicine.

By working with energy healing, practitioners claim that improving the flow of energy around the body can allow relaxation, reduces stress, reduce pain, speed up recovery, and reduce other symptoms of illness.
